Sopkin Studio, 2018
Marjorie was born and raised in Westport, CT. She attended the Hartford Art School for two years before transferring to Tyler School of Art. She spent her junior year in Rome, Italy and graduated with a BFA in painting in 1975.
After college, she moved up the shoreline to Guilford, CT where she married, raised two daughters, and had a 30-year career in graphic design. She worked for several well-established firms before opening her own award-winning studio in 1993.
In 2015, once her daughters had finished college, Marjorie closed Sopkin Design and returned to painting full time. She currently enjoys working in a beautiful studio space just a mile from her home in downtown Guilford.
